Why do populations rise and fall?

Prey increase when they touch resources, giving predators more chances to increase. Too many predators reduce prey and may later disappear when catches become scarce.

Why can the ecosystem go extinct?

Prey can all be caught, and predators disappear after going too long without a catch. Extinction is a valid random outcome; regenerate to observe another path.

What does the population ceiling do?

It limits prey and predators combined. At the ceiling, prey temporarily stop splitting on resources while hunting, movement and resource renewal continue.

What does the chart record?

It tracks elapsed time together with prey, predator and resource counts. Long runs automatically reduce historical sampling density.

Is any data uploaded?

No. Initialization, random evolution, collision calculations and chart rendering stay in the current browser and are not written to local storage.
